Most Anticipated New Books and Comics – November 2020

Here are the books I’m most looking forward to that come out in Novmeber!

Victor and Nora: A Gotham Love Story by Lauren Myracle and Isaac Goodhart

Release Date: November 3rd

The latest entry in DC’s series of YA graphic novels, Victor and Nora covers the origins of Victor and Nora Fries. That’s Mr. Freeze and his future wife for those less into Batman. These books have generally been good and Myracle and Goodhart’s Catwoman graphic novel was enjoyable so I’m thinking this one will be too.

Magnificent Ms. Marvel Vol. 3 by Saladin Ahmed and Minkyu Jung

Release Date: November 3rd

The third volume in Saladin Ahmed’s run on Magnificent Ms. Marvel. I have to admit when G Willow Wilson left the book I was worried about Kamala’s future, but Ahmed and his wonderful art collaborators have been doing a great job.

From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back by Various

Release Date: November 10th

From a Certain Point of View was a really refreshing look into Star Wars: A New Hope when it came out a few years ago. It was an anthology from a host of diverse authors that offered a re-telling of A New Hope through the lens of minor characters. This time around a new set of authors is giving The Empire Strikes Back the same treatment. Some of the authors included are R.F. Kuang, Hank Green, Martha Wells and many, many more.

The Arrest by Jonathan Lethem

Release Date: November 10th

This one is a shot in the dark for me. I’ve never read anything by Lethem but the premise sounds like it could be something that works. Check out the tagline: “From the award-winning author of The Feral Detective and Motherless Brooklyn comes an utterly original post-collapse yarn about two siblings, the man that came between them, and a nuclear-powered super car.” That’s more than enough for me to be in.

The Burning God by R.F. Kuang

Release Date: November 17th

The Burning God is the final entry in the Poppy War trilogy from R.F Kuang. This has been one of the best fantasy series going for the last several years and the finale no doubt promises to deliver more of the same thrilling action and an honest look at the price of love and war. Kuang is a star.

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline

Release Date: November 24th

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard of Ready Player One unless you’ve been living under a rock the past 4 years. I enjoyed the first book and I’m excited to see what Ernest Cline has in store for the second book. Book one had a pretty tidy ending so here’s hoping Cline capture the same level of adventure!

Sex Criminals Vol. 6 by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky

Release Date: November 25th

The finale to what has been one of the wittiest, dirtiest, and most earnest comic books series on the shelves for 6 years now. It’s been a long on again, off again road to this point but I’m guessing that in the end it’ll have all been worth the wait.

The Question by Jeff Lemire, Denys Cowan, and Bill Sienkiewicz

Release Date: November 24th

Jeff Lemire is my favorite comic book writer but I often find his super hero work to be hit-or-miss. Writing The Question with Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz, however, sounds like an extremely good fit. I’m looking forward to this DC Black Label revitalization of Vic Sage from some great creators.

Those are just some of the many, many great new books that are coming out in November. I’m only worried I might not be able to keep up! What are you looking forward to coming out this month?
